11/12/2010 11:48:00 PM

Nassau, Bahamas: Night 2 of the most talked about fashion event of the season, Islands of the World Fashion Week (IWFW), was like no other show in the capital city of the Bahamas.  Bright lights, a room filled with video cameras and photographers, and of course, who could forget the fashion crazed crowd who waited eagerly to watch the stage illuminate once again!

Patrons of the evening eagerly awaited the two designers of “In Search of The Next Oscar”; Raynellis Howell of Turks & Caicos and Georgina Estherr, Dominican Republic, who both vied for the coveted title.  Celebrity designer and TV personality Nick Verreos hosted the competition and kept guest captivated with his high-energy and vivacious personality.

Mode Îles Ltd produced “Runway to Fashion Week” event’s winner Theodore Elyett, joined the runway and showcased his 14 piece collection.  Along with being awarded a scholarship to the coveted Parsons The New School for Design, Theodore was also given a fabric donation by Bahamas Handprint, which he used in part of his collection.

The Culture and Fashion design presentation was also held tonight, as designers Phelicia Dell (Haiti), Harl Taylor BAG (Bahamas), David Rolle (Bahamas), Savannah Savary (Haiti), K.Bobby (Jamaica) and Oliver Tolentino (Philippines) showcased their fashion and culturally inspired pieces, reflective of their island-nations.

True to himself, international stylist and designer Indashio (U.S.A.) brought his definition of fun, colorful and originality to the runway.  His line was a definite crowd pleaser and brought the runway to life as he joined his models in "drag". “I am a small town guy who moved to New York and was introduced to color,” Indashio said.  He added that his pieces “were inspired by New York night life and the originality of the locals. My line is called "Move Party Monster" and it was inspired by the NYC club kids. The colors of New York made me and my pieces.”

IWFW 2010 will culminate tomorrow with the “Fashion Cares for Haiti: The Relief Benefit Fashion Show”. Haitian designers Phelicia Dell, David Andre, Giovanna Menard, Michel Chataigne, Maguy Durce, Maelle David and Savannah Savary are all set to grace the runway with their designs.
