Nassau, Bahamas -- Henry Nathanial Jackson is a master of design and fashion who has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood ranging from Angela Basset and Whoopi Goldberg to Oprah Winfrey.

Known for creating elegance for full-figured women, Jackson’s designs hit the runway last on the second day of IWFW. The crowd waited anxiously for Jackson’s showcase and he surely did not disappoint. The crowd fell silent as the lights came up and the first model hit the runway. The music combined with the slow fortitude of the model’s movement captured everyone.

Jackson’s designs were modern, elegant and intricately woven to create a night to remember. Colors were mixed; reds, grays, purples, blacks and whites. Designs ranged from cosmopolitan to evening attire. There were twenty five dresses and gowns, each utilizing various African style prints and other floral prints.

Jackson, a designer from Boston has been in the fashion industry for more than 20 years. He earned ‘America’s Next Great Designer Award’ and went on to do an apprenticeship with Charles Suppon, Chester Weinberg and Perry Ellis. Jackson is a graduate of Parson’s School of Design and has worked and managed design teams for Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Bally of Switzerland. Most recently his designs have caught the eye of First Lady, Michelle Obama.

When we caught up with Mr. Jackson he was very pressed from time, but offered us an interview anyway.

“The whole collection was inspired by Michelle Obama,” he said. “She saw the collection herself and ordered five outfits, so I think I achieved my mark.”

Jackson claims that it is a very interesting and proud experience to be at IWFW with such a mixture of cultures as opposed to Europe and New York, “where your audience is of no color.” This is Jackson’s first fashion show in The Bahamas and he claims that he can’t wait for next year.
